RoundTrips and MOREnet Present Internet Safety Night
Date: Nov. 4, 2009 Times: 7 to 8 p.m. Audience: parents and community members Cost: NO CHARGE
There is no doubt we now live in an “Internet age.” With the click of a mouse, you can e-mail hundreds of people, buy a vintage automobile or create a personal profile to share with the world. Cyberspace may well have become the new “final frontier.” How can we help you and your children explore this frontier in safety? This program will give parents the chance to interact with experts and peers on topics including online predators, cyber-bullying, identity theft and other Internet-related issues.
Hosted this year by parents at St. Clement School in Des Peres, Mo., Internet Safety Night is a nationwide event that brings information and resources to students, parents and members of the community to help us all stay safer online. Your group of parents and community members is invited to join via videoconference to interact with Lt. Joe Laramie, Director of Missouri’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force; Cherisse Thibault, Missouri KidsFirst; and Justin Glick, Missouri Attorney General’s Office.
“This is such an important issue it is absolutely critical for kids, parents and community members to be on the same page with regard to online safety,” said Randy Raw, Manager of Network Security at MOREnet. “The Internet is a fantastic learning tool, but like any tool, people need to understand what the risks are and how to use it safely.”
